During your three months or more, you’ll have one and a half hours of Spanish classes in the mornings and another hour and a half of Flamenco guitar classes in the afternoons Monday through Friday. In addition to this, we offer you half an hour of daily group tutoring just before the first class. The progress you make will be closely followed by a tutor that will be assigned to you at the beginning of the course and who will counsel you about your development and academic needs. At the end of the course you will receive an assistance certificate together with a detailed report about your progress and a valuation of the acquired knowledge, made by your tutor.

In the morning, you generally start studying in the analysis and grammar class of the level that corresponds you and once you have acquired the grammatical knowledge of that level, you get into the conversational practice class. This way you will complete our syllabus, participating alternatively in the two classes that form the Intensive Spanish Course.

In the afternoon, you will study the Guitar for an hour and a half. Our School offers two different levels, but a minimum knowledge of the instrument is always required, even if it is in other music styles. All those who know how to play other styles and want to learn the techniques of the Flamenco Guitar will start at the beginners/intermediate level; in the more advanced level will belong those who know how to play the Flamenco Guitar and want to keep learning new styles, perfecting their technique and discovering how the dance and singing accompaniment works.

There is no determined length in weeks for each level, depending on the progress of the student it is possible to do more weeks on the same level or continue to the next. Despite this, it is usual to take four to six weeks in the beginners/intermediate course before moving on to intermediate/advanced.

The guitar instructors are themselves Flamenco professionals with years of teaching experience. All of them perform on stage at the various tablaos or local theatres in Granada giving their students an opportunity to see them “in action” as artists outside of school.

Every two weeks students study a different palo or style with the first half an hour dedicated to the technique of both the right and left hands in Flamenco guitar. At the beginning level, the students are instructed in the correct hand placement as well as the different ways of pressing with the right hand (hammer-on and pull-off). They also practice simple exercises such as arpeggios, finger and thumb picking, strumming, tremolos, and alzapuas. At the intermediate/advanced level, students work with longer and more complex pieces as well as studying the different scales (Major, Minor, modes, etc.).

After the first half-hour of class, the students are trained in the different palos or styles of Flamenco such as Tangos, Fandangos de Huelva, Alegrías, Soleás, and more. At the beginning/intermediate level, the students study rhythm, short falsetas or variations, basic chords to accompany voice and some basic rhythms to accompany dance. At the intermediate/advanced level, students are instructed in guitar rhythm, more complex falsetas or variations and complete songs, as well as in the various accompaniments for the principal styles of singing and dancing.

In addition to this you may also participate for one week in our Understanding Flamenco: Compás (rhythm) for free, at the level that suits you best, as a complement to the guitar classes.
