DESCRIPTION Spanish course

Designed for those who want to learn or perfect our language in an efficient and dynamic way. Taught by highly motivated teachers who like their profession and have extensive experience. It is aimed at students of any level of Spanish, from beginners to very advanced:

• Beginner (A1)
• Elementary I (A2.1)
• Elementary II (A2.2)
• Intermediate I (B1.1)
• Intermediate II (B1.2)
• Advanced (B2)
• Proficiency (C1/C2)

The method is designed to satisfy all communicative needs, from the simplest to the most complex, without forgetting a serious and clear study of grammar, essential in learning Spanish.

Semiintensive 10 is divided into two parts, taught by two different teachers and which will alternate according to the weeks:

9:30 - 11:10

11:30 - 13:10
Reflection and grammar practiceConversational practice

There is a very close relationship between the two parts that make up this course, serving the second class of conversational practice, to practice and consolidate the contents that have already been acquired in previous weeks in the first part. The first 15 minutes of each class are dedicated to reviewing and complementing the program, addressing possible deficiencies or gaps in any of the students in the group.

DESCRIPTION flamenco course

You will enter the level that corresponds to you and you will be able to progress through the levels that we offer as you progress.

Our school offers three different levels for this course: beginners, beginners and intermediate. If you have an advanced level you can take the SEMI-INTENSIVE 10 Spanish course + TECHNICAL DANCE/CHOREOGRAPHY 8.

At the initiation level, the first week of the dance course will be combined with a compás course, to spend the second week combining it with the beginner technique. In the rest of the levels, the technique and choreography courses are combined from the beginning. The duration of each level depends on the progress of the student, but as a guide it can be said that it is possible to do from one to four weeks at initiation, from six to eight at the beginner level and from eight to twelve weeks at the intermediate level, depending on the number of courses being taken and the progress of each student.

In the Initiation class, dance is worked on through various activities: listening to recorded music to learn to recognize its rhythm and to accompany the music with clapping; making simple markings, taking a few simple steps of tapping, moving your arms and hands in flamenco style, and most importantly: learning a small exit and marking of the dance to the beat of the music. It is usually worked by tangos or fandangos.

In the Technique class, different warm-up exercises are carried out every day, tapping, marking, turns, setbacks, arms, hands, balance and positioning of the body. All the elements involved in the dance are practiced, without the need to learn a complete choreography. Normally, different dance phrases are worked on for different flamenco palos (styles): alegrías, bulerías, seguiriya, etc. Recorded music is sometimes used to perform the exercises.

During the Choreography class, normally every two weeks, you will learn a different choreography for one of the most common flamenco styles. Depending on the level, some styles or others are worked on. In the beginners section, tangos, alegrías, fandangos and bulerías are worked on. At the intermediate and advanced levels, dance por alegrías, soleá por bulerías, bulerías, jaleos, abandolaos, tientos, tangos, seguiriya, guajira, caña and farruca, among others, are usually studied.

Special importance is given to the study of the compás and the style of each style, its character and the way of executing each dance, as well as the relationship with the guitar and singing.

The choreography includes guitar accompaniment at all levels, as well as occasional singing accompaniment at intermediate and advanced levels.

Every two weeks there is normally a change of teacher, both in initiation and in technique or choreography. You can check the teachers and styles scheduled for the coming months in scheduled courses. The teachers who teach the classes are professional dancers with experience in teaching flamenco dance at different levels. You can see many of them perform in nearby tablaos where they work.

It is advisable to combine the dance courses with the courses of learning about flamenco (compás, singing, structure and history).

Normally every two weeks, you can participate for free in the Flamenco Jam, directed by a dancer accompanied by a guitarist and a professional singer. This one-hour session is intended for dance and guitar students to put their knowledge into practice by working on improvisation, mainly tangos or bulerías, in a more relaxed way.

Students who enroll for twelve weeks or more will have their progress monitored by a tutor who will be assigned to them at the beginning of the course and who will advise them on their progress and academic needs. At the end of the course they will receive a certificate of attendance along with a detailed report, including an assessment of the evolution and all the knowledge acquired.
