By choosing this course you can combine Guitar 8 (intermediate/advanced level) and Accompaniment Singing and Dance Guitar 6. This is the most complete course for the intermediate/advanced level, it is designed for those who already know flamenco guitar and want to continue perfecting it, learning new styles, and discovering the techniques of accompaniment to dance and singing.

In the first class, the first part is dedicated to the flamenco guitar technique, more complex exercises and long studies will be done, as well as scale studies (major, minor, modes...). The rhythm and harmony of flamenco, complex falsetas or complete works, accompaniment to the main styles of each song and rhythmic resources for dance are studied. Fundamental concepts of cante accompaniment such as chords and melodic details will be studied. Likewise, the different parts of the accompaniment to the dance will be studied: escobillas, raises and auctions. All the falsetas that are worked on in the part of the class dedicated to flamenco styles, will be focused on being used to accompany singing or dancing.

Within the study of each style, both the rhythm and the most traditional falsetas of each one are studied. Falsetas of the fundamental guitarists in the history of flamenco are worked on, taking into account the personality, sound and work of each one. Falsetas are studied both by old guitarists such as: Sabicas, Niño Ricardo, Ramón Montoya or Borrul, as well as by more current guitarists: Paco de Lucía, Vicente Amigo, Gerardo Núñez or Tomatito. Some guitarists will be studied according to the different periods of their musical career, such as the first period of Paco de Lucía, which we will call Paco de Lucía I, or his most modern stage, Paco de Lucía II.

The second class of accompaniment to singing and dancing is focused on the analysis and understanding of flamenco forms in singing and dancing. Every two weeks the rhythmic, melodic and harmonic analysis of a specific style is made. You will learn to recognize the entrances, escobillas, calls, silences, lyrics and falsetas of a dance, as well as where each part goes. In this course you will be able to learn the most important resources of accompaniment to dance and singing, as well as resolve all doubts about the most complicated and difficult part of flamenco guitar. On the one hand, a more academic learning is carried out, analyzing the music, and on the other, more traditional, as if it were a flamenco family environment. They will work with recordings, as well as with live singing on an occasional basis. All students must have an intermediate/advanced level of flamenco guitar, as well as basic knowledge of the palo corresponding to those weeks, in order to take this course, or combine it at the same time with the intermediate/advanced level Guitar 8 course.

Selected recordings of songs and dances will be used every day, to put into practice all the accompanying techniques that are learned. It is important that students prepare themselves before the course, listening to singing and watching dance by the style corresponding to the week. The course will be developed as follows:

• Rhythmic and harmonic analysis of each style. In the rhythmic styles, it will be analyzed in which place of the compass the chord is changed. Harmonic-melodic analysis. In the free styles, it will be analyzed at what moment of the cante melody the chord is changed.

• The falsetas that each student has previously learned will be used to enrich the cante. The particularities of each style will be practiced, such as ligados, rasgueos and other important elements.

• Structures of the different dances will be analyzed: entrances, escobillas, calls, silences, lyrics and falsetas. Where each part goes and how to recognize them.

• The language of dance will be enriched, learning different ways of making calls with chords, characteristic strums, different brushes. Likewise, the rhythmic nuances will be studied to differentiate the styles: beats of each wheel, ways of marking the beat, etc.

• Practical class, either with recording or with live singing or dancing. Each student will have to practice all the material given that week.

The teachers who teach them are professional flamenco guitarists, with extensive experience in teaching this discipline at its different levels. You can see all of them perform in various tablaos or nearby venues where they work.

Every two weeks a different palo (style) is studied. You can check the teachers and courses scheduled for the coming months in scheduled courses.

Students who wish can also participate by accompanying the dance classes.

Normally every two weeks, you can participate for free in the Flamenco Jam, directed by a dancer accompanied by a guitarist and a professional singer. This one-hour session is intended for dance and guitar students to put their knowledge into practice by working on improvisation, mainly tangos or bulerías, in a more relaxed way.
