Antonio "el Jaro", guitarist, teacher at the Carmen de las Cuevas School

Antonio el Jaro

He uses his solid training and experience to teach students.

Antonio Álvarez “el Jaro” was born in 1994 in the Asunción neighborhood of Jerez de la Frontera, considered an important flamenco nucleus, where he began to play self-taught and have his first flamenco experiences, together with amateurs and professionals of singing in places like the Fernando Terremoto group.

At the age of 14 he began his training under the guidance of maestro Luis Balao, with whom he learned the Jerez touch from its roots. He continues learning with teachers such as José Ignacio Franco, Jesús Agarrado “el Guardia” or Pepe del Morao.

Later he continued his training in Seville at the Eduardo Rebollar Academy, where he laid the foundations of accompaniment to singing and dancing. He complements her flamenco training with Modal music (Greek, Turkish, Arabic and Andalusian), as well as with knowledge of Argentine folklore.

Between 2018 and 2022, he combines performances at various flamenco festivals and competitions with dance accompaniment at various academies in Seville. He forms a Creole flamenco music duo with Julieta Paz, as a guitarist, composer and arranger, with whom they have performed on various stages since 2018 and continue today.

In 2023 he moved to Granada, where he combined his flamenco guitar studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Jaén with various jobs such as the tablao “El Templo del Flamenco”, accompaniment of dance classes at the Carmen de las Cuevas, teaching accompaniment classes to the singing and dancing in a particular way, as well as the transcription of works, falsetas and flamenco singing to sheet music.
