Juan de Juan

A dancer of great charisma and refined technique in which he joins nerve and restraint with a speed achieved by few virtuosos.



Born in Seville in 1979. He starts dancing at the age of 7 in Morón de la Frontera under the tutelage of Juan de Triana. He learned from masters such as Juana Amaya or Ramón Barrull. While at Seville´s Royal Music School he studied among other great artists like Manolo Marín or Juan Ramírez. With 16, he joins Antonio Canales’s flamenco dance company, in which he will rise to be lead dancer. He participated in the company’s most notable performances. He has danced in some of the world’s most important theatres and festivals, such as New York’s City Center, Paris’s Champs Elysées or Milan’s National Theatre. In 2001 he presented the first performance of his own, Pueblos, in Madrid’s Teatro Príncipe. The following year he presented Anda Luz, touring around Spain. In 2004 he founded his first big company, Ballet Flamenco Juan de Juan, and he presented Torero and in 2007 he premiered Inquietudes, in which he uses instruments such as piano and electric guitar. The following years he keeps working in new projects and developing his dancing. In 2012 he fuses flamenco and tap dancing in Flamenco Hoofers, premiered in Seville’s Bienal. In 2015 he presented Salmos, this time fusing gospel music and flamenco.
