Terms of Service 2017

  1. Acceptance of these conditions is a prerequisite for registration or attendance to any of our school's courses.
  2. The school will be closed from 1st to 8th January and from 23rd to 31st December 2017. No classes will be given during these periods, although registrations and requests for information by email or telephone will be dealt with.
  3. Courses always start on a Monday, this being the day when there is an introductory welcome speech, and classes begin. On this day, all new students must come to the school at 8.45 am.
  4. For Spanish and culture courses, students need to complete a level test 3 weeks before the course is due to begin. If you have enrolled after this period of time, any special conditions will be indicated on the reservation confirmation.
  5. The school is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
  6. Holidays: There are no classes on February 28th, April 14th, June 16th, October 12th, November 1st and December 8th. There will be no charge for these classes if the student loses any day for this reason, except in the case of the Three-Monthand Six-Month Courses.
  7. Each one-hour class lasts a full sixty minutes.
  8. All classes are given in Spanish. It is not necessary for students enrolled on flamenco dance or guitar courses to be able to speak Spanish, but it will make learning easier.
  9. The online Spanish classes must be set and paid unless 24 hours in advance. Classes that are being set but haven't been confirmed (date or time) 24h in advance are assumed to be cancelled. In case of cancellation or change for a confirmed class, it must be also informed 24h in advance. If it isn't, the full import must be paid regardless of whether the class takes place or not.
  10. The following courses: Spanish Culture, Understanding Flamenco: Basic Structure of Dance and Understanding Flamenco: Singing, require a min. of elementary II level Spanish (A2.2). The same goes for Understanding Flamenco: History And Styles, this course requires a min. level of intermediate I (B1.1) and for the Hispanic Literature and Teacher Training Courses the advanced level (B2) is required.
  11. Students who have enrolled on any of our courses of 7 or more hours per week will have unlimited access from 9:00 to 23:00, 7 days a week to: the library (more than 1,200 titles), dance studios, shower, Internet access, wifi, terraces, etc.
  12. The school offers a lending service run by the office for the library’s books for students enrolled on courses of 7 or more hours.
  13. The textbooks that are given to students can be taken out of the school, but they must be returned at the end of the course and must not be written in. If preferred, the students may also buy these books in our shop.
  14. The minimum age for students taking part in our courses is 18. Students under the age of 18 may enrol with authorisation from the management and their parents.
  15. Extension of courses is normally possible, and should be requested as soon as possible. If a course is extended, the price will be calculated according to the total length of the course. In some cases this will result in a lower price per week.
  16. The school reserves the right to make any necessary timetable changes without prior notice.
  17. The courses Teacher Training - Teaching Spanish through Cinema, Understanding Flamenco: History And Styles, Understanding Flamenco: Basic Structure Of Dance and Understanding Flamenco Singing and all Flamenco Master Courses, given the specialisation required, may be cancelled if no teachers are available to give these courses, owing to circumstances beyond our control.
  18. The "Los Veranos Flamencos de Granada" master courses will uphold to their own exclusive conditions, them being the following:
    1. Admission to the courses will be suject to the order the applications come in.
    2. To formatlize your booking you must pay the full import of the course in advance. Booking will not be binding for the School until the payment has been received.
    3. Once the booking has been formalized, confirmation will be sent.
    4. Once the booking has been formalized, there will be no refunds.
    5. Classes will be imparted in Spanish.
    6. At the end of the course a certificate will be given out.
  19. There is no minimum number of students required to form a group, if only one student has enrolled half the number of hours scheduled will be given keeping the same price.
  20. The school's Director of Studies will be responsible for assigning students to the different levels and groups following the level test, or an oral interview or teachers' assessment. For flamenco courses, the students will assess themselves according to the established levels, following the assessment guide. In both cases, it will be the Director of Studies who is ultimately responsible for allocating groups and levels.
  21. All students having completed at least 80% of the course can request a certificate of assistance.
  22. After their stay students will have the opportunity to fulfill an evaluation questionnaire about all the services offered during the stay and so help to better the school.
  • ACCOMMODATION

  1. The residences are shared flats having between 2 and 5 bedrooms, a communal kitchen and a bathroom, which is shared with other students from the school. A weekly cleaning service of the communal parts is included.
  2. The apartments have one bedroom. The charming apartments can have one or two bedrooms and as their name implies, are places with a special charm, normally with good views. This type of accommodation is ideal for people who prefer more privacy. Private apartments do not have a weekly cleaning service.
  3. In Spanish family accommodation, students have their own bedroom but double rooms are available if two people coming together want to share. Half-board includes breakfast and one meal (at about 14:30), and full-board includes breakfast and two meals (at about 14:30 and 21:00).
  4. All utilities (electricity, water, gas, etc.) are included in the price.
  5. The accommodation is fully equipped (kitchen, bathroom, washing machine, household items, sheets, blankets, heating, etc.).
  6. The towels are included only for private apartment, family accommodation or hotel.
  7. Our accommodation is located in the Albayzín (the historic quarter of Granada) and is very close to the school and to the city centre. Family accommodation, however, can sometimes be in other parts of Granada and a bit further away from the school.
  8. All accommodation begins on the Sunday prior to the starting date of the courses.
  9. The time to move into the accommodation on Sunday may be between 18:00 and 23:00 o'clock.
  10. All accommodation finishes on Sunday at 12.00 am.
  11. In the case of family accommodation, you will be notified beforehand of the address and telephone number so that you can arrive on your own.
  12. We cannot guarantee accommodation, especially during the high season, for students enrolling on courses of less than 7 hours per week.
  13. If you would like accommodation without doing a Course at Carmen de las Cuevas, ask for further information.
  • BOOKING

  1. Preferably, students should enrol using our web page www.carmencuevas.com. It is also possible to enrol by email. For all enrolments, the school reserves the right to refuse admission.
  2. The school will confirm the booking and will send all the necessary information before the arrival date.
  3. Once the student has received confirmation from the school, it is necessary to send 50% of the full payment (100% for the "Veranos Flamencos de Granada" master courses) to confirm the booking.
  4. The amounts paid for booking the course and/or accommodation will be considered as part of the payment.
  • PAYMENT

  1. Payments for bookings can be paid by:
    • Credit card (Visa and MasterCard)
    • Bank transfer indicating your name and booking reference number to:

  2. Payment must be made within the first three days of the course either in cash or credit card (Visa and MasterCard).
  3. The student will be responsible for all bank transfer charges and commissions.
  4. The valid prices are those published in the web for the current year. Very occasionally errors are made in receipts, invoices, emails, etc. but the prices applicable are the ones in the web.
  5. Bookings will be lost if we have not received payment of the deposit, or proof of payment, at least four weeks before the course and/or accommodation starting dates, except if the enrolment is made with less than four weeks notice in which case the school will provide information about the booking conditions..
  • CANCELLATION

  1. If we are notified of the cancellation for the course and/or accommodation four weeks before the course and/or accommodation starting dates, the full amount paid will be refunded, minus 100 Euros for administration costs.
  2. If we are notified of the cancellation for the course and/or accommodation less than four weeks before the course and/or accommodation starting dates, no fee will be refunded, although the course reservation fee, minus 100 Euros for administration costs, may be used as payment for another course in the future (within a maximum of 5 years).
  3. If we are notified of the cancellation less than 4 days before the course and/or accommodation starting dates or once the course and/or accommodation has begun, the booking fee will not be refunded and payment must be paid up until the end of the week when we are informed, plus two weeks if these were included in your booking, or one week in the case of the booking ending before.
  4. If we are notified of a change or reduction in your booking once the course and/or accommodation has begun, payment must be made for the booking up until the end of the week when we are informed, plus two weeks if these were included in your booking, or one week in the case of this booking ending before.
  5. In case of the Three-Month-Courses and Six-Month Courses the booking fee will not be refunded either and 6 weeks after course start; or 12 weeks after the start of the Six-Month Courses. Payment must be made for the booking in force up until the end of the week when we are informed, plus two weeks if these were included in your booking, applying the price of the corresponding course according to the number of weeks done.
  6. For the "Veranos Flamencos de Granada" master courses no refund will be made.
  7. Changes or cancellations for online Spanish classes must be notified at least 24 hours in advance. If they are not, they must be paid in full.
  8. There is no reason or justification, which invalidates the previous points.
