J. INTENSIVE DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY

 Starting dates: every 2 weeks, (specific dates, see calendar) 
 Duration: 1,5 hours (90 minutes)/day - 7,5 hours per week - min. 1 week (except July and August: min. 2 weeks) - maximum 11 weeks (more weeks, see Three-Month Courses)
3 levels: beginner - intermediate - advanced
Maximum 12 students per group

PRICE: 93,75 € per week (if you book only one week, the price is 118,75€)

Every two weeks we teach the dances of the many distinct styles or �palos:�  Buler�as, Tangos, Alegr�as, Sol�a, Seguiriyas, and more. You will learn to distinguish between the different styles by dancing the choreographies �a comp�s� or with guitar accompaniment.

K. INTENSIVE DANCE TECHNIQUE
 Starting dates: every Monday
Duration: 1,5 hours (90 minutes)/day - 7 and 1/2 hours per week - minimum 1 week - maximum 11 weeks
 3 levels: beginner - intermediate - advanced
 Maximum 12 students per group

PRICE: 86,25  € per week (if you book only one week, the price is 111,25€)

 

If you really want to learn to dance flamenco well, the absolute best way is by taking a technique class essential for everyone from beginners to advanced.

L. INTENSIVE GUITAR
Starting dates: every Monday
Duration: 1,5 hours (90 minutes)/day - 7,5 hours per week - minimum 1 week - maximum 11 weeks (for more weeks see Three-Month Courses)
2 levels: beginner- intermediate and intermediate-advanced
Maximum 8 students per group

PRICE: 101,25 € per week (if you book only one week, the price is 126,25€)

This class is perfect for those who already play the different styles of guitar and would like to add the Flamenco technique to their repertoir. The advanced guitar class focuses on helping flamenco guitarists polish their style, discover new ones, and learn the techniques for accompanying dance and singing.

M. INTENSIVE COMPÁS (RHYTHM)
Starting Dates: every Monday
Duration: 1 hour of 60 minutes/day - 5 hours per week - minimum 1 week, maximum 4 weeks         
3 levels:  beginner, intermediate and advanced
Maximum 12 students per group

PRICE: 50€ per week (if you book only one week, the price is 66€)

This class is ideal for those interested in discovering the mystery of the “compás”  or rhythm of Flamenco. The “compás” refers most frequently to the clapping accompaniment so essential to create the hypnotic pulse of flamenco. The goal of this class is to train students to distinguish between the diverse rhythms of the music and to teach them the techniques of the compás in all of its different forms.

 PRICE: 1728 € per trimester (144€ for each additional week)

During your three months or more here, you’ll be able to dedicate yourself entirely to the study of flamenco dance having 3 hours of flamenco classes in the afternoons.

During your three months or more, you’ll be able to delve deeply into the study of flamenco guitar having one and a half hour of class every afternoon.

After the big success of the first Edition of the Veranos del Corral Courses 2009, Carmen de las Cuevas is already preparing the second edition of the official Courses of the Veranos Flamencos de Granada at the dance studio of the Cultural Centre of Caja Granada from 19th July until 14th August 2010. These master courses are an additional attraction to the high quality performances at the XIIth Veranos Flamencos de Granada and will be given by some of the most important figures of this event. The performances will take place in Granada in the wonderful patio of the historic building Corral del Carbón, situated in the heart of the city center.

·   Monday to Saturday, one and a half hour daily (total of 9 hours).
·   2 levels: advanced/professional (from 9:30h. to 11:00h.) and intermediate(from 11:30h. to 13:00h.).
·   25 students maximum per group.
·   Price without the tickets to the flamenco performances at the Corral del Carbón corresponding to the week the master course is given.

LEVELS

Intermediate:  This course is only for those who have been dancing regularly for at least five or six years*. Usually the participants have danced several of the palos, or styles and can catch on quickly to the new steps. They need to have experience dancing tangos, alegrías, soleá por bulerías and bulerías.

Advanced/Professional: This course is for professional flamenco dancers, although non-professionals may enrol on this very advanced course if they have been dancing for at least seven or eight years. Students will normally have danced all of the main flamenco dance styles.

 *These indications of time are only a suggestion and can vary significantly according to the abilities, age and learning aptitude of each person, as well as to the time each student is willing to invest into practicing. Our experience shows that in case of doubt it is better to choose a lower level.

FREE CULTURAL PROGRAMME

A cultural programme consisting of talks and cultural visits is included in the price of any course. A talk on Granada (which includes practical information about the city, location of places of interest, restaurants, etc. on a map, opening times) and another on the Alhambra in which important information is given before the visit. The cultural visits are to different places in the city of great artistic/historical interest or with stunning scenery and views. Visits are organised to the important historic quarters, and also churches, monuments and museums. A teacher from the school, who is an expert both in the subject and the teaching of Spanish to foreigners, is responsible for the entire cultural programme, and can therefore be easily understood by students who do not have a good knowledge of the language.

One-Day-Flamenco-Workshops


Tailormade courses for Flamenco
We can organize courses for groups for Flamenco or  for a combination of Spanish with flamenco, for the required length, tailormade for each group and at any time of the year. The courses, which can last 3 hours daily (of 60 minutes) or less, can be combined with various cultural activities, as historic-artistic visits to the different quarters of Granada and excursions outside Granada, like the Alpujarras (south side of the Sierra Nevada with impressing nature and white villages), Cordoba, Sevilla, etc.


Although our minimum age to attend the school normally is 18 years, on request we also organize Spanish Courses for Adolescents, offering the possibility of hosting them in Spanish families.


The budget depends on the requirements and will be personalized.


One-Day-Flamenco-Workshops
Our One-Day-Flamenco-Workshops, are classes organized on a certain day for a pre-arranged group. You can choose between or combine the following options: 

  Compás Workshop (Rhythm)
This workshop consists of a flamenco rhythm class (beginner level) for groups who come to visit Granada and would like to have an introduction to the rhythm and clapping of flamenco to better understand and enjoy a performance in a Flamenco Tablao, which we can also reserve.

The group`s size can be from 10 to 25 people, but there can be 2 groups if there are more than 25 people. The course lasts one hour and is given by a dancer accompanied by a guitarist.


  Dance Workshop
This workshop consists of a flamenco dance class for beginners. Similar to the compas workshop, it is designed for groups visiting Granada that wish to have an introduction to flamenco, but besides clapping also want to move their hips and dare to try out some flamenco steps.

There are between 6 and 12 people in one class, but if there are more people, there can be two groups at the same time. The course lasts one hour and is given by a dancer, accompanied by a guitarist.


 Flamenco Talk and Demonstration
This option consists of a theoretical exploration of flamenco, explaining what flamenco is and the relationship between singing, guitar and dance. At the same time it is a small performance, as every explanation is followed by a practical demonstration with singing, guitar and dance. If required, it can be simultaneously translated into English.

 The group’s size is from minimum 10 to maximum 40 people and lasts one hour.


 Tablao Flamenco
We can make a reservation for a flamenco show in a Tablao near the school which can be combined with one of the workshops or the talk demonstration to truly appreciate the flamenco experience.
