The program consists of discussions and cultural visits that take place for an hour and a half three days a week.
Every Monday there is an informational talk about Granada during which the teacher presents topics such as where to eat, where to shop, where to go for fun, important historical monuments, interesting flamenco shows, student discounts, and the normal business hours of the city. These presentations also allow students already familiar with different aspects of the city to share their knowledge and experiences creating a true exchange of ideas for all participating. At the start of each meeting, the teacher posts the cultural activities for that week along with other scheduled events (movies, festivals, etc.) taking place in the city.
On Thursdays and Fridays, the students participate in a diverse range of cultural activities that consist of short talks on different topics of interest or visits to different places of great historical, artistic, or natural importance. They visit many fascinating nieghborhoods such as the Albaicín, the Realejo, and the downtown of Granada in addtion to a wide range of monuments, and museums, such as the cathedral.
The entire program is given in Spanish by a teacher with expert knowledge on the different topics as well as on the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. Thus, the teacher is able to describe the cultural themes in such a way that all the students, no matter their level, can understand and learn from the experience. |
